Urban Fantasy
Janet Walden West--Her website is Urban Fantasy Gone Rural, and though she does write urban fantasy, she's straddles genres with remarkable skill, and her contemporary romance work that has now found publication in the soon-to-be-published Salt+Stiletto's. She's received multiple awards for both genres, so I'll keep her up here for now. Stay on the watch for Sloan Carr, but until then Brett Fontaine and Will Te'o are dang good company.
Faith Hunter--This is the author of the "Jane Yellowrock" and "Rogue Mage." At the moment, I'm only acquainted with the "Jane Yellowrock" one, but my what an acquaintance it has been. It's pulse pounding and just fantastic. I encourage any urban fantasy reader to pick up her book if you haven't already.
Kim Harrison (Dawn Cook)--I love her work. I loved her as Dawn Cook, and I found her completely anew as Kim Harrison and I adore the "Hollow Series." She's an amazing author and I can't say enough good things about her, but the Best-sellers list says it all.
M.L. Brennan--Funny and so darn good. I just recently had this series pointed out to me by a friend and can't thank her enough. The "Generation V Series" is wonderful. I highly recommend it.
Kalayna Price--Yes, I have been living under a rock, but luckily I had a friend show this to me, too. The "Alex Craft Series" is awesome and you're going to like that witch, I know it. Oh, and the friend referring me to awesomeness? See Janet Walden-West above.
Rachel Caine--Oh, Rachel Caine, Rachel Caine. She rocks. She's one of my all time favorite authors. The young adult "Morganville Vampire Series" cemented my love of her writing and I'm not saying anything more because I can feel spoilers come all tumbling out.

Paranormal
Darynda Jones--Love her "Charley Davidson Series." Funny, with t-shirt quotes that you really want to share with random people sitting across from you, and all around goodness. Quirky heroine, hunky/sexy hero, and full of heart that's getting better every book which I didn't think was possible. Oh, my I recommend you pick up this series very, very much. She's an awesome cup is half-full kind of grim reaper.
Sheryl Winters--Author of Purr-fect Mating and Pixified.

Sci-Fi
Hywela Lyn--This is actually Space Opera, but she kind of dominates this genre here, because my reading of sci-fi is a little light. I need to remedy that. Her blog "Romance that's 'Out of This World'" contains everything from links to her own books, to cover reveals, excerpts, and author interviews. She's got a terrific imagination and she thinks up some pretty cool space monsters.
Romance--Fantasy, Contemporary, and Otherwise
Michelle Zeigler--Fellow author from Spooktacular Seductions (a fantasy anthology), but also published in some other Roane titles: Winter's Sweet Kiss and For the Love of Murphy (both contemporary), she falls into that little in between that does both genres, but stays connected by the romance. Click on her name and check out her site.
Katrina Sizemore--A Roane author and currently being published in Accidental Valentine Anthology, her premiere short story "Better Latte than Never" celebrates love and caffeine, just the way life intended. She also hears the siren call of paranormal, and currently crafts stories on both fronts.
